James Fishback Announces Run for Florida Governor

James Fishback, a 30-year-old fourth-generation Floridian, announced his candidacy for Florida Governor in the 2026 Republican primary.
"My name is James Fishback, and I'm running to succeed Ron DeSantis as Florida's next Republican Governor," Fishback declared in his announcement video.
"I'm a fourth-generation Floridian, and I'm running to make life more affordable for you and your family. I'm fighting so every Floridian can earn a great-paying job, buy a home, raise a family, and retire with dignity."
Fishback's platform centers on:
• Eliminating property taxes on homestead properties
• Banning investment firms from purchasing single-family homes
• A complete immigration moratorium
• Refusing foreign political donations
• Defending free speech without exception
The campaign's central message: "Florida is our home; America is our birthright; and we will never let them steal it from us."
Fishback enters the race as an insurgent candidate against Trump-endorsed frontrunner Byron Donalds, who has raised over $30 million from corporate donors.
"Byron Donalds has $30 million from corporate donors and AIPAC," Fishback noted. "I take no foreign money. My allegiance is to Florida, not to donors."
Fishback's background includes founding Incubate Debate, a high school debate league, and Azoria Partners, an investment firm. He launched the Azoria 500 Meritocracy ETF, which excludes companies with DEI policies.
"Ron DeSantis made this the greatest state in our union," Fishback said. "I'd be honored to succeed him as Florida's next governor."
